Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Water 110°F
  • 3 tbsp Olive OIl

Garlic Butter

  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Parsley
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese Optional

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Knots: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope, tie it into a knot, and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Second Rise: Cover the knots with a towel and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Bake the knots for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • Brush on the Garlic Butter Coating: Mix melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Brush the hot knots with the garlic butter immediately after baking. Option to sprinkle Parmesan cheese on as well!
