Equipment

  • 1 KitchenAid Mixer

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sourdough Starter
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Instant Yeast (equal to 2 tsp)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  • In a mixer (we use a kitchenaid mixer) add in the sourdough starter, water, sugar, yeast, salt, and flour
  • Mix dough in the mixer for about 5 minutes (It should be sticky dough but not enough that pieces stick to your hands)
  • Form the dough into a ball
  • Take a bowl (we use the bowl of a stand mixer), spray the bowl, and place ball of dough in it
  • Cover bowl with a towel, let it sit in a warm place and let the dough rise for about an 1hr and 30 mins or until it's doubled in size
  • Roll dough out with about 2 tsp of flour
  • Cut into forths. From there, roll out the sections and cut into little pieces (this will be the size of your pretzel bites)
  • Place pretzel sized dough on a cookie sheet with parchment paper
  • Heat 1/2 cup of water until it boils
  • Add 1 tsp of baking soda to boiling water
  • Brush this water and baking soda mix onto pretzel bites
  • Pre heat oven to 500 degrees
  • While oven is preheating, cover pretzel bites with a towel to allow them to rise a little more
  • Put in the oven for 8 minutes. Pretzels will be golden brown.
