DIY Winter Bath Salt: a perfect gift for your loved ones or a treat for yourself!
Winding down (and warming up!) with a bath is something we look forward to, especially this time of year. As the walls seem to close in during winter, we do our best to bring natural elements to the inside parts of our home. With Balsam, Cedar, Rosemary, Orange, Vanilla, and Cinnamon, this bath salt highlights the staple scents of the season! The aromatherapy of this bath salt mixture alone is enough to make it a staple in our house during the chilly months!
Along with this seasonal bath salt, we also like to liven up our winter by bringing the magic of the season inside with Washable Winter Window Art. And what if I told you that you can Force Paperwhite Bulbs in the Winter months for a fresh, sweet, floral addition to your decor? We also use oranges to string Dried Orange Garland and make our immune-boosting Ginger, Turmeric, Lemon Shot!
Using bath salts elevates your bath into a wellness-boosting experience. Adding bath salts into your routine will serve you well – giving you increased skin health, muscle relaxation, and some aroma therapy. Here is a breakdown of what each element in this Wintertime Bath Salt brings!
Epsom Salt: Because of the magnesium and sulfate levels, Epsom Salt is said to help with a variety of body functions, including pain relief and improved sleep.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties and helps improve circulation.
Balsam: Besides the wonderful winter scent, Balsam has healing properties for skin wounds and overall skin health.
Cedar: Cedar is known to soothe and relax muscles because of its pain-reducing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Rosemary: Rosemary is great for skin health and dry skin relief. It is also known to stimulate hair growth!
Dried Oranges: Orange brings refreshing antioxidants which protects skin health
Vanilla: The soothing smell of vanilla enhances the sensory experience in this recipe!
Olive Oil: Acts to blend and hold all ingredients together
This should last you and your family for a while: one batch lasts us about 20 – 30 baths!
Most ingredients can come from a winter walk outside! You can also find them at your local grocery or garden and home store.
Slice and blot your orange slices and bake them at 225° for about 2 hours (flipping them at 1 hour). When they are brown and no longer shiny, they are done!
