Natural Hair Care

The minute I met her, I just knew there was something special about Brittany’s hair. So I asked her what made it so long, thick and lush. This is the recipe she told me about. She said she’d been using it for years combined with good shampoo and conditioner that didn’t leave tons of residue afterward. This is her and her beautiful family at Subourbon Farms.

I met Brit several years ago now, came home- quickly made myself up a bottle and have been using it weekly, ever since! I use it before I sauna, exercise, work in the garden/ barn or any time I know I will be washing my hair later on. It’s given me long, super-strong luscious hair, and my older girls love it too! I should rename it Rupunzel’s Potion or something like that! 😉

Why did it take me so long to share this secret recipe with you? You should know that before I publish a recipe, recommend a product or share about something, I want to make sure I love it, it works like it says it should and it’s worth sharing! After several years of using this, I can tell you, this works! If you’ve struggled with hair growth and scalp health, give it a try!

Why Use a Hair and Scalp Tonic?

  • Promotes Scalp Health: Tea tree oil and rosemary essential oil are known for their ability to soothe the scalp, reduce dandruff, and balance oil production.
  • Stimulates Hair Growth: Rosemary oil is a favorite for encouraging hair growth and improving circulation to the scalp.
  • Nourishes Hair: Olive oil deeply moisturizes and nourishes both hair and scalp, leaving your locks soft and manageable.
  • Versatile: This tonic works for all hair types and can be used as a treatment or a weekly boost for healthier hair.

FAQs About this Hair & Scalp Tonic

1. Can I use a different carrier oil?

  • Yes, you can substitute olive oil with jojoba oil, argan oil, or sweet almond oil for a lighter consistency.

2. Is this safe for color-treated hair?

  • Absolutely! This tonic is gentle and free from harsh chemicals, making it safe for all hair types, including color-treated hair.

3. How long does the tonic last?

  • When stored in a cool, dark place, this tonic will last up to 6 months. I like to pencil in the date I made it on the bottle, just in case we don’t use it all up in 6 months, so I’ll know when it’s time to make a fresh bottle.

  • Feel free to customize the recipe with your favorite essential oils. Lavender or cedarwood are great options for added benefits.
