Today’s food adventure is Poutine! Poutine is a Canadian dish (the jury is still out on if I pronounce it correctly…). Football season is coming to an end but you can still whip this up for football’s largest game this Super Bowl Sunday! Or keep this in your back pocket for any sporting event or watch party in the future.
Traditional Poutine consists of regular french fries, gravy, and cheese curds but we like to spice ours up with waffle fries, chicken, and barbecue sauce – among other delicious ingredients! This recipe is more of a guideline – when adding ingredients, we measure with love on this one! This recipe all sits in one 9×13 pan making it great for cleanup and transportation.

Do you have any tips for making the best Poutine? Hot, Hot, Hot! Hot fries, hot gravy, and all of the above are what make this dish come together and what makes the cheese curds squeaky! |

How can I customize my Poutine Recipe? Just like loaded fries or loaded tater tots, poutine is so wonderful because it is completely customizable! If you want to stray from the traditional Canadian Recipe like we did, you can add any ingredient you like (mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, pulled pork, guacamole, etc.). I have only stuck to the waffle fries so far but if you favor sweet potato fries, you can make those the base instead! I found an article that pulls poutine toppings from all food cultures: read here |
