Have an abundance of fresh peaches on hand like us this year? Look no further than our family-crafted Peach Crisp Recipe to use up this delicious and versatile fruit!
A mouthwatering and fresh dessert!
Our peach tree has been producing pounds of perfect peaches this year! (does the alliteration make them sound more delicious??)
Besides snacking on these juicy homegrown peaches, we also sell them at our local farmers market, the Crossings Center, here in Lewiston, MN. We are proud to sell our handmade goods and spend our Wednesday summer nights enjoying a night out “on the town” with our fellow neighbors.
With the rest of our peaches that we haven’t snacked on, sold, jammed, or gifted to our friends and family, we happily turn into a peach crisp. This recipe is a play on my grandma’s rhubarb crisp recipe and something we crave when it comes time for peach season!
Making Peach Crisp
Materials
9 x 13 pins
Dough Blender (find them here) I’ve held off from having one of these on hand and just only recently got one. I’ve used it more than I thought I would.
Ingredients
1 cup Flour
1 cup Brown Sugar
3/4 cup Oats
1/2 cup softened to melted Butter
1 tsp Cinnamon
4 cup Peaches (cut up into forkable sizes)
1/2 cup White Sugar
1 cup Water
2 tbsp Corn Starch
1 tsp Vanilla
Steps
Preheat oven to 350° and grease your 9 x 13 baking dish
Mix brown sugar, oats, butter, cinnamon, and half of the flour (1/2 cup) together using a dough blender. Press into pan – there will be enough to sprinkle on the top before baking.
Combine cut up peaches and the rest of the flour (1/2 cup) and sprinkle over top
Combine white sugar, water, cornstarch, and vanilla in a saucepan. Heat until clear, about 5 minutes
Pour this mixture over the pan with the rest of the ingredients
A fresh dessert that highlights the bright flavor of peaches. From our family recipe to your kitchen – enjoy!

Why you’ll love this easy Peach Crisp
Is there anything better than serving a warm, fruit-filled dessert à la mode with vanilla ice cream? We like making our desserts hearty, meaning we top our desserts with ice cream and top our ice cream with desserts :). Check out our delicious homemade Strawberry Ice Cream Topping and see what we’re talking about!
You will find that not all crisp recipes press the toppings into the bottom of the pan. We like to do this as it gives each bite a little more structure like a bar rather than a dump cake.
The texture combination of the sweet and soft peaches mixed with the thick, flavorful toppings makes this peach treat stand out and, in our opinion, above other peach desserts.

What is there to know about Peach Crisps?
What is the difference between a peach crisp, peach crumble, and peach cobbler?
A cobbler is more of a peach bake that encases the peach slices in cinnamon sugar batter. The main difference between a crumble and a crisp is the oats. A crumble tops the peaches with cinnamon and sugar while the crisp will have a thicker, crunchier texture because of the oats.
Where can I get the best peaches?
We are lucky to be greeted by pounds of peaches weighing down the trees in our backyard. Savor the last tastes of summer and do yourself a favor by visiting a local farmers market. These fresh peaches cannot be beat! Or maybe this is your motivation to start growing your own peaches next year ;). Our happy little Minnesota peach tree is called a Contender.
Does cooking a peach help combat an allergic reaction?
The itchiness in my lips, nose, and throat (oral reactive disorder) makes biting into the fresh, ripe peaches a not-so-wise idea. However, you can find me happily consuming our peach crisp as cooking breaks down – for the most part – the components that cause allergies. This is my personal situation; if you have severe allergies to stone fruits, then steer clear, and I invite you to read up on our other dessert recipes! 😉
