3 Ingredient Dry Apple Tea | A Favorite Fall Tea

It’s apple season and the sunrises and sunsets are getting colder here in Minnesota. This is when I reach for a quick, warm, and tasty drink to kickstart my day.

It’s that time of year again, when my kids and I are craving a warm drink before heading off to start our days. Sending everyone off into the crisp Minnesota weather usually means a cup of Russian Tea , Homemade Hot Cocoa, or a Vanilla Chai Tea Latte. This year, though, I searched for a way to capture the seasonal flavors to warm up our mornings.

As it turns out, tourists in Turkey are often greeted with their national beverage, black tea, but with a twist. When steeped with fresh apples, lemon juice, and cinnamon, it becomes a delicious apple tea. This tea is warm, comforting, and can be poured into our cups in just 10 minutes. The scent of apples fills the kitchen and follows us as we walk out the door.

What are the benefits of Drinking Apple Tea?

Black Tea: Black tea is packed with flavonoids and polyphenols. Both are antioxidants that work to prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. The caffeine also works to improve focus and alertness throughout the day.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon works to prevent infections and viruses because of its antimicrobial properties. It is also known to help with inflammation and blood sugar control.

Apple: Dried apples will still provide you with a dose of fiber making this a “gut healthy” drink. Your stomach will thank you!

Tips for Warm Apple Tea

  • Use a tea steeper: If you don’t have stainless steel Tea Steepers, head to the link and get some for yourself! They are easy to wash and hold any dry tea mix you have.
  • Use a tea that suits your flavor preference: The warm flavors of apple and cinnamon can be enhanced by other teas, including rooibos, green tea, or chai.
  • Use Ceylon cinnamon sticks: Ceylon cinnamon sticks are best to use for tea – they bring a sweeter, lighter flavor

This tea is easy to make on the fly, but if you want a touch more organization in your mornings, crush up about 3-4 servings worth and store in an airtight container or mason jar.
