Try our Turmeric, Ginger, and Lemon shot for an energizing wellness boost!
Whether it’s our decor, our clothes, or what we consume, we are always on the lookout for new ways to boost our lifestyle using natural elements. Using only 5 ingredients, each with its own beneficial compounds, this wellness shot is no exception!
We love having this beneficial concoction on hand during all seasons, but we especially appreciate this recipe around the holidays; it’s a great pick-me-up before and after we enjoy larger meals! The ginger and turmeric mixed in with lemon and orange juice provides a refreshing boost to our days and we love all of the benefits!
Pro-Tip: To gain the true benefits of this shot, you will need an ingredient to activate the turmeric. The ginger will do this, but if you don’t have ginger add a pinch of black pepper
Quick! Remember! Turmeric stains easily – make sure to cover yourself and your surfaces!
What makes turmeric and ginger so good for you?
Being that they are both roots, Turmeric and Ginger are about as natural as you can get! Turmeric is known to help with more upper respiratory issues, while Ginger focuses more on our digestive health. In addition to these unique benefits, they both have a relatively similar effect on the body meaning that their benefits can enhance when brought together in a recipe like this one!
Benefits that this shot can bring you:
When should I take my turmeric ginger shots?
We spread the 2 to 3 shots throughout the day, but we don’t stick to any specific schedule of when we take them.
What should I do with all of the extra peels?
I soak the peels in vinegar for a week, strain, and then use the vinegar in my cleaning solution. You can also use the peels in a Winter (or any season, really) Simmer Pot like we do for a fresh scent in your home! Check out how we use this scent in our homemade Play Dough here.
Can I use bottled lemon juice?
In using bottled lemon juice, you will lose valuable nutrients. I recommend sticking with regular lemons.
What is the shelf life of these wellness shots?
They are good in the fridge for 7 days and can stay frozen for up to 3 months. We sometimes strain them right into ice cube trays and throw them in the freezer!
What else can I use my leftover ginger root in?
Your leftover ginger can be just as beneficial in other recipes like our Lemon, Ginger, and Honey Tea, Elderberry Fire Cider, or Cranberry Salsa .
